Telecom: three former managers indicted for phantom sims, the company settles a plea

Fabrizio D'Arcangelo, Gup of the Milan court, has indicted, for impeding the supervisory activity of the Authority for guarantees in communications, three former managers of Telecom Italia: Riccardo Ruggiero, CEO between 2002 and 2005, Massimo Castelli, operating director from 2005 to 2007 and the former marketing manager, between 2006 and 2008, Luca Luciani.

The charge hanging over their head is that to have kept alive more than 5 million phantom sims, making top-ups of a cent, in order to inflate Telecom's customer base and, consequently, its market shares.

It was instead approved the company's settlement, which provides for the payment of a fine of 600 thousand euros. Telecom's position was lightened above all by the remedies adopted to prevent such episodes from happening again.
