Telecom Italia offers 820 million for Metroweb

Telecom Italia offered approximately 820 million euros for 100% Metroweb. In the proposal, the group gives CDP and F2i (the two partners of Metroweb) the possibility of choosing whether to sell 100% of the fiber company immediately or to sell 67% initially and then let Telecom rise to 100% in two to three years. The offer also includes the possibility of an asset swap with CDP involving Sparkle, controlled by Telecom. A hypothesis, however, which sees the parties involved at the moment distant because they give a different valuation of the asset.

In addition to Telecom Italia, Enel Open Fiber, the fiber company created by the electricity group and led by Tommaso Pompei, is also interested in Metroweb. Today, according to what has been learned, during the Enel board meeting which approved the accounts, a report was presented on the progress of the Metroweb negotiation.

Metroweb is the telecommunications company that made Milan the most wired city in Italy. The company then reached Genoa, Turin and Bologna and announced its intention to bring broadband to Verona, Florence, Rome, Bari and Palermo in the next few years, with an expected investment of around one billion euros.
