Magneti Marelli-Faurecia: an agreement to make car interiors ever more 'tech'

There is an agreement between Magneti Marelli, of the Fiat group, and Faurecia, a French component company. A collaboration that will be able to provide a wide range of innovative solutions (based on innovative materials, mechatronics and natural interfaces) for automotive interiors.

“This is a major step forward in the development of our interior systems offering to meet the need for increased connectivity and intelligent use of the interior architecture of automobile manufacturers,” said Yann Delabrie're, president and CEO of Faurecia.

Eugenio Razelli, number one at Magneti Marelli, commented: “The agreement ushers in a new era for integrated man-machine interface solutions, where the user's experience of receiving, managing and sharing information within the he car is evolving towards a single, enlarged and interactive interface, where the fusion between plastic materials and electronics is crucial”.

Meanwhile, work is already being done in European, North American and Asian car manufacturers for the creation of the first applications in the sector of high quality retractable touch screens and the integration of portable devices.

Inside vehicles, by now, there are more and more fixed or retractable displays, which have ever-increasing dimensions and tactile functions. Faurecia aims to further strengthen its global leadership in the automotive interior sector by offering the physical integration of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, while Magneti Marelli aims to strengthen its leadership in the automotive electronics sector thanks to the ability to implement solutions Hmi complete (voice, touch, display).
