Leonardo: new contract with Pakistan for AW139 helicopters

Leonardo today announced that the Government of Pakistan will introduce additional AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopters into service. Based on the contractual agreements reached, the new aircraft will be used for passenger transport, emergency medical services and utilities throughout the country. The helicopters will be delivered in early 2019.

"The order - explains the company led by Alessandro Profumo - represents a further step towards the completion of the renewal program of Pakistan's helicopter fleet, which is proceeding through the progressive introduction of new helicopters, consolidating the success of the AW139 in the Village".

In fact, there are already numerous examples of this model in service in Pakistan, many of which are used for rescue, civil protection and transport missions. “The AW139 – continues Leonardo – has proved to be the ideal solution for the particular environmental conditions of the country, thanks to its unique operational capabilities and high performance, especially at high temperatures and at high altitudes, superior to those of other helicopters in the same category available on the market".
