Volkswagen starts producing the Passat in the USA

Volkswagen begins production in the United States. Today, in Tennessee, the first plant of the German brand will be inaugurated in America, 23 years after the closure of a factory that VW had in Pennsylvania. Objective: to make a big comeback on a market where the leading European car manufacturer is currently very weak.

The plant will produce 150 cars a year. It will be only the Passat, even if the model has been adapted. It is longer than the one in the Old Continent, but with fewer options. And in fact, the price will also be lower, starting from 20 dollars, which is 9 euros less than the European Passat. VW seems to really believe in US paper, with a production project of 1,1 billion dollars. And which has every appearance of launching an attack against the Fiat-Chrysler tandem.
