US automakers beat analysts' expectations in June sales with Chrysler, Ford and General Motors all trading higher, despite negative publicity linked to the recalls.

Fiat-Chrysler ended June with US sales of 171.086 vehicles, up 9% on the year. At the end of the period, inventories amounted to 72 days, 509.714 vehicles. Jeep models led the way with a 28% increase, marking the best June ever and the highest percentage increase among the various Chrysler Group brands. All-time sales records and sixth consecutive records of the year for three of the brand's models – Compass, Patriot and Wrangler – with the Compass posting the largest increase of 5%.

General Motors delivered 267.461 cars, up 1%, compared to analyst expectations of 247.767. In the first six months, the manufacturer made 59 recalls, totaling a record 29 million vehicles.
