Terrorist Battisti captured in Bolivia: he will be extradited to Italy

Caesar Battisti was captured in Bolivia in Santa Cruz, a city in the center of the country. The former terrorist had lost track of him in December after an arrest warrant was issued against him. A special Interpol team with Italian and Brazilian agents carried out the arrest. At the time of his arrest Battisti had a fake beard and mustache.

To confirm the news, anticipated by the press, was Filipe Martinsspecial adviser to the president of the republic Jair Bolsonaro. "The Italian terrorist Cesare Battisti was arrested in Bolivia and will soon be taken to Brazil, from where he will probably be sent to Italy, so that he can serve his life sentence according to the decision of the Italian justice," writes Martins on his Twitter profile.

The Battisti case was also at the center of Brazilian politics. Escaped from France, Battisti was pardoned by former president Lula on his last day in office.

The new Brazilian president Bolsonaro, who took office in January, already during the election campaign had expressed his intention to extradite Battisti to Italy in an exchange with the leader of the League and interior minister Matteo Salvini.
