FS Italiane group: returns to profit (+111%) in the first half with the recovery of passengers

Il FS group archive the first semester of the year with a positive profit of 47 million euros, an improvement compared to the loss of 438 million recorded in the same period of 2021. This was announced in a company statement.

Furthermore, during the period operating revenue amounted to 6,1 billion euros (+16% on an annual basis, due to the general recovery of mobility), while the ebitda it improved to 909 million euros (+142%) thanks to the "general recovery of mobility, despite the difficulties associated with the global geo-political situation".

In the note, Fs also reports that in the semester technical investments stood at four billion, a "decrease compared to the first half of 2021 by 0,8 billion euro", while the net financial position it has reached 10 billion euros (from 8,9 billion at the end of 2021).

FS Italiane group: "Strong recovery of passengers, but now serious uncertainty"

The results, explains the FS group, “benefit from the strong recovery in passenger volumes transported, but are suffering from a context of great uncertainty and worsening global economic prospects, due to the war in Ukraine and the critical issues relating to the cost/availability of energy and other raw materials”.

The geo-political effects on the supply chain and on the cost of materials “have also led to a shift in the program of the infrastructure investments, which therefore reflect a decrease compared to forecasts and 2021 final results, largely recovered at the end of the year".
