Sustainability travels by train. Trenitalia (FS Italiane group) launches Intercity Green: a train with a renewed look thanks to a special external coating and a dedicated carriage with six bike spaces, recharging points, separate waste collection, family area and vending machine. In addition, on the walls of coach 3 passengers will find messages about sustainability with details of CO₂ savings for train travel. By June 2023, the entire Intercity Giorno fleet will have this carriage available in its complete composition.
Furthermore, on Trenitalia's new green train, passengers will find the first seats made with fabrics made from yarns obtained from recycled plastic, the production of which allows for savings, for each kg of yarn, of 32% of CO₂, 94% of water and 64 % energy. A green choice that will also be repeated for the seats of the next Intercity hybrid trains between the towns of the Ionian coast.
In the Official Gazette tender for 370 new Intercity Night carriages
To this novelty is added the publication of the tender in the Official Gazette for 370 new sleeping cars, with a guaranteed minimum of 70, for the renewal of Intercity Night trains to and from the South. The tender has a minimum economic value of 140 million euros, assigned to Trenitalia by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility as part of the funds of the PNRR.
Agreement with Loquis for the podcast "Italy in Intercity"
Thanks to the collaboration between Trenitalia and Loquis, the first travel podcasting platform in the world, in fact, passengers will be able to listen to "Italy in Intercity", choosing from 400 original stories, created by four travel podcasters who have crossed the peninsula from north to south. An example of augmented reality free audio accessible by all travelers in six different languages. To use it, simply download the Loquis app, enter the "L'Italia in Intercity" channel and start the navigator function.
