Former Prime Minister Romano Prodi was approached to become the new president of the MPS Foundation but declined the invitation. The indiscretion was confirmed by the mayor of Siena Bruno Valentini himself who contacted the former premier in view of the renewal of the bodies of the major shareholder of Banca Mps.
"I have been a friend of Prodi for a long time - explains Valentini - he declined my invitation but I had a chat with him and other national leaders to arrive at prestigious and very high profile candidates".
