The Italian shipbuilding company has signed a contract with the Viking Cruises company for the construction of two ultra-luxury cruise ships – The value of the order, according to analysts, exceeds 500 million euros.

Fincantieri has obtained an order for the construction of two new extra-luxury cruise ships for Viking Cruises. This was announced in a press release issued today by the shipbuilding company. The delivery of the ships, identical to those ordered in July last year, is expected in one case for mid-2016, in the other for the beginning of 2014. The total value of the order, according to experts, would exceed 500 million.

The contract, as underlined by the CEO of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono, "strengthens our collaboration with Viking, a group that is demonstrating remarkable dynamism and ability to achieve important goals on the market". With this operation, the shipping company, which is based in the United States but was founded by a Scandinavian-Dutch consortium, lands in the marine cruise sector.
