Enel is targeting young people with its Energy for Schools program: this is how energy transition technicians are created.

The Group led by Flavio Cattaneo is strengthening the bridge between school and business: the project that prepares young people for energy professions with technical training and new employment opportunities is growing.

Enel is targeting young people with its Energy for Schools program: this is how energy transition technicians are created.

From classrooms to energy transition construction sites: Enel focuses on training of the new generations with "Energy for School", the program that connects institutions, students, and businesses to build the skills needed to develop the energy sector. The program combines theoretical training, practical activities, and concrete job placement opportunities in companies in the supply chain.

The project was launched in 2022 to meet the growing demand for qualified technical professionals in the electricity grid sector and has subsequently expanded to include the renewable energy sector. The program thus aims to reduce the gap between the skills required by businesses and those available on the market, guiding young people toward the professions that will drive the country's energy transformation.

Energy for Schools is growing: Enel's model for training the technicians of the future.

The program includes a multifaceted process: from open days at schools to student selection, through specialized training and meetings with partner companies to facilitate entry into the world of work.

An example comes from Tuscany, where the 2025-2026 edition of the project involving the students of the ITIS “A. Santucci” of Pomarance, in the Volterra area, in the province of Pisa. Seven recent graduates completed a course consisting of 80 hours of theoretical training and 40 hours of laboratory work at the EcoTech training camp in PerugiaThe training, completely free thanks to the contribution of Enel's supply chain, allowed the students to acquire specialized technical skills and interact with partner companies with a view to potential career opportunities.

The route design was curated by Orienta, Employment Agency, based on the needs expressed by the companies involved. Among the companies that participated were: ICET, CST (Cadaver Surgical Training), Goemaintenance e Valmec, companies active in the energy sector that accompanied the students throughout all phases of training.

From Pomarance to Caivano with "Energy for the Future" to create new opportunities.

Another important initiative is the one that arrived in 2026 at Caivano, where Enel and the “Francesco Morano” Institute have launched “Enel & Caivano: Energy for the Future”, a path of school-to-work training which involved over 40 third-year students. The initiative represents not only a career guidance opportunity, but also a tool for inclusion and local development, offering young people the opportunity to combine classroom lessons with practical experiences directly related to market needs.

Enel: The numbers behind the energy skills challenge

Enel's commitment to training new generations also extends to other sectors national programs, including dual apprenticeship courses with the University of L'Aquila and collaborations with ITS Academy of Macomer and Civitavecchia, of which the Group is a founding member. Through these partnerships, Enel contributes to the design of training programs and guides students towards new career opportunities in the energy sector.

The results achieved confirm the growth of the project: from 2022 to today “Energy for School” involved over 10.000 students during the Open Days organised in schools, more than 130 schools and 80 partner companiesApproximately 1.600 young people have been trained, all of whom are employed or in the process of being hired by Enel's supply chain.

Now in its fifth year, "Energy for Schools" has established itself as one of Italy's leading models of collaboration between schools and businesses in the energy sector, helping train the technicians who will support the development of electricity grids, renewables, and the entire energy transition chain in the coming years.
