Champions: Sarri's Juve disappoints again, Lyon celebrates

An unwatchable Juve without ideas gives the first half to Garcia's Lyon who takes advantage of it to score and then proudly defend the advantage until the end: 1-0 – Pjanic, Rabiot, Cuadrado and Dybala the most disappointing, but the biggest flaw he's on the bench

Champions: Sarri's Juve disappoints again, Lyon celebrates

More than a dream, a nightmare! The final phase of the Champions League of Juventus starts again in the worst way, that is with a defeat against the "small" Lyon of Garcia, seventh in Ligue 1 and designated sacrificial victim on the day of the draw. Instead it was not like this and the fault lies entirely with the black and whites, unable to create dangers at Lopes' goal despite a territorial supremacy of 61%. But ball possession, as already seen on Tuesday in Naples, is not necessarily indicative, so it's better to dwell on the only shot on goal in the 95th minute (however irrelevant), demonstrating a wrong Juventus, not to say unprepared, for the most important. Mind you, nothing is lost: OL Park's 1-0 can be overturned, God forbid. The flavor that remains, however, is still very bitter, not so much for the result as for the game, sub-level for at least 75'.

In fact, only in the final quarter of an hour did the Lady really manage to make herself dangerous, moreover by recriminating a penalty on Dybala which, replay in hand, could also have been there. But the performance under the pace remains and seeing Ronaldo leave the field disconsolate for not being able to shoot on target even once, she says it louder than many words. Lyon, for its part, takes home a very heavy victory, albeit more for the demerits of others than their own merits. Sure, on balance the best chances belong to him, but the absolute lack of scoring chances in the second half demonstrates how Juve, with more viciousness and organization, could have done much better.

“I have a lot of difficulty in getting the concept of moving the ball quickly across to this team – Sarri's bitter comment. – In training the ball travels at two hundred per hour, but in the match it doesn't happen. When you lose speed everything becomes more difficult, the strange thing is that in training we work twice as fast as we did tonight. After the bad first half we had a good second but not enough for a Champions League match. With the team I insist on the speed of the ball moved: I still can't convey it. We have to work on it…”.

The first half was therefore decisive as the French did much better, whereas Juventus essentially understood nothing. Except for the first quarter of an hour, with the black and whites who seemed to be masters of the field without risk, it was Lyon who managed the game better, with the consequent creation of goals in a series. The first came in the 21st minute with Ekambi, whose header hit the crossbar: an alarm bell that the Lady was unable to grasp, so much so that she was found unprepared 10' later when Tousart, on an assist from talented Aouar, scored behind Szczesny for 1-0 OL.

In the second half we saw a different Juve, yet the scoring opportunities, with the exception of a shot by Higuain (who took over from Cuadrado for the final assault), remained on Sarri's blackboard. Which, beyond a possible penalty for a hold by Guimaraes on Dybala (Spaniard Gil Manzano let it go), really has no justification: his Juve, after the alarm bells of Naples and Verona, showed very cracks also worrying in the Champions League: and seeing Guardiola emerge triumphant from the Bernabeu, moreover in a comeback, certainly does not help to strengthen his project. Conte will arrive in Turin on Sunday and mistakes, this time, will not really be allowed. Assuming that Juve's results, at this point, really depend on you...
