SERIE A CHAMPIONSHIP – A sparkling Rome overwhelms Inter at the San Siro: 0-3

Now it's official, Roma are also up for the Scudetto! The Giallorossi successfully overcome what, on the eve, we dubbed "the litmus test". They do it with a grown-up game, in which they knew how to entertain, score, even suffer. It's still too early to know for sure where this team will arrive, but they certainly have everything to aim for the title until the end. Conversely, Inter came out reduced from the third direct match of their season, but not completely eliminated. Yes, because up until Totti's doubling (moreover born of a non-existent penalty), the Nerazzurri held their ground, demonstrating that Mazzarri's work is proceeding well anyway.

On the other hand, the club's declared objective is third place, not the Scudetto, so defeats like these can also be there. In short, the real surprise is Roma, even with full points after 7 league games. Praise abounds for everyone, but the symbols of this first extraordinary glimpse of the season are Rudi Garcia and Francesco Totti. And if the latter surprises only for the performance / age ratio, the former is undoubtedly the most welcome surprise, and not only for Roma but for all of Italian football.

The sergeant from Nemours landed in the capital almost by chance (third choice after the refusals of Mazzarri and Allegri), in a climate of tragedy (the legacy of the Coppa Italia derby lost against Lazio weighed heavily), ending up even in the meat grinder of the pre-season contest. Garcia has sketched it out, but in the meantime he has got his hands on the market and on the squad available.

Result? Excellent signings (above all Gervinho, acquired on his precise indication) and completely revitalized players (looking at De Rossi is believing). Yesterday your Roma faced the San Siro match with the security of the strong, of those who know that, at any moment, they can put them on their side. And in fact, in the face of a good start from Inter, he was able to wait and seize the right moment. Arrived, once again, from the right foot of Francesco Totti, someone who almost always gets excited when he comes to San Siro. His shot was beautiful which, after 18 minutes, froze Handanovic and the entire San Siro with him. The Nerazzurri's reaction was angry and convinced, but stopped at De Sanctis's post, shaken by Guarin's fireball.

But just when Inter was on the verge of equalizing, here was the one two from Roma, once again signed by Totti. The captain first converted the penalty to make it 0-2 (foul by Pereira on Gervinho, but the images showed that the contact took place outside the area), then launched his counterattack masterfully transformed by Florenzi. At the end of the first half the result was already merciless: 0-3, and it would never change. In the second half, Mazzarri tried to shake him off with hyper-offensive substitutions (inside Icardi, Kovacic and Milito), but by then the omelette was done.

Indeed, the best opportunity came once again at Gervinho's feet, as devastating outside the area as he was imprecise inside. Inter stalled on a goal rightly disallowed by Ranocchia for a foul on De Sanctis, but asking her for a comeback was almost impossible. The days will come when the nerazzurri will return to excel, but now it's still time to work to grow. Roma, on the other hand, is already great, the important thing is that you keep pretending not to be.
