The ultra-broadband front remains hot, as does the duel between Telecom Italia and the other operators, with Cassa depositi e prestiti playing the role of arbiter and guarantor of the country's modernization plans. With regard to the construction of an ultra-broadband that can bring fiber optics into homes, the president of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Bassanini clarified that "the ideal is for all the telecommunications operators to stay there, otherwise we'll deal with whoever is there".
Bassanini added that “if Telecom is there, it's ideal for us. If Telecom builds the network, after having said that there was no demand, that's fine for us, but there will also be the Metroweb network”.
As regards Vodafone Bassanini, he specified that "there is an ongoing negotiation, we have always said that we intend to proceed with whoever agrees, and therefore the expressions of interest that do not place conditions with respect to the presence of other shareholders are the object of attention not only generic but concrete on how a common project can be built”.
