Harsh sanction imposed by Consob on Kmpg, the company in charge of the audit work on separate and consolidated financial statements of Il Sole 24 Ore SpA as at 31 December 2013, as at 31 December 2014 and as at 31 December 2015. Having found several irregularities (listed in detail on the Consob website) the supervisory commission on listed companies, chaired by Paolo Savona, decided to fine Kpmg for a total of 250.000 euros, divided into three different sanctions, depending on the year:
- with regard to the irregularities relating to the audit of the separate and consolidated financial statements for 2013, concerning the sale by Il Sole 24 Ore of the rotary machine located in the Bologna factory: 60.000,00 euros;
- with regard to the irregularities relating to the audit on separate and consolidated financial statements as at 2014, concerning the aforementioned sale by Il Sole 24 Ore of the rotary press located in the Bologna factory: euro 40.000,00;
- with regard to the irregularities relating to the audit of the separate and consolidated financial statements as at 2015, concerning the aforesaid sale transaction by Il Sole 24 Ore of the press located in the Bologna plant; the aggregation of the goodwill allocated in the P&D CGU with that of the T&L CGU e failure to carry out theimpairment tests of the P&D CGU; the auditor's checks on segment information and the auditor's checks on the consistency with the financial statements of the information on the performance of the newspaper given in the management report: Euro 150.000,00.
Payment of the fines must be made within 30 days of notification of the provision.
