PepsiCo, net income drops in the third quarter: 1,9 billion dollars (-4,9%)

The US beverage maker reported a -4,9% profit loss compared to the same period in 2011, when it jumped to $2 billion.

PepsiCo ended the third quarter with net income of $1,9 billion ($1,21 per share), down 4,9% from $2 billion ($1,25 per share) in the same period of 2011. The U.S. beverage maker's revenue fell 5,3% year over year to $16,7 billion in the quarter.

Excluding mark-to-market losses and restructuring charges, the company's EPS was $1,2, versus $1,3 a year prior. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated EPS of $1,16 on revenues of $16,9 billion. The company's operating margin increased from 16,5% to 16,8%. Pepsi confirmed its outlook for 2012.
