Edison launches offer: free license fee for new customers

Edison is hunting for customers by launching an offer that bears the costs of the Rai license fee, which this year will be included in the electricity bill at the behest of the government, starting in July. With “Edison Light Light” the group of Foro Buonaparte, explains a note, will return the 100 euros of the Rai subscription to new customers who sign a contract by autumn 2016.

“We have decided to reimburse the TV license fee to Italian families – he explains Marc Benayoun, Chief Executive Officer of Edison -. I think it is an important sign of proximity to the Italians to whom we promise to be increasingly innovative, not only in terms of offers, but also in terms of services. By choosing Edison, consumers will also be choosing energy with low CO2 emissions, thanks to one of the most efficient electricity plants in Europe”. Edison's proposal discounts the TV license fee from the electricity bill for the entire first year through 10 monthly installments of 10 euros each.

“Our strategic priority is to triple the number of customers – added Benayoun -: we have 21% of the gas market, 12% of electricity production and only 1,2 million customers in Italy. And so important to increase the retail part, we want to achieve this growth both with extraordinary operations and with new innovative offers for electricity and gas". Among the strategic priorities, the manager also cited the introduction of “innovative services and initiatives and the development of a relationship with quality customers using digitalisation. We are aiming – he added – at more than 40% from renewable sources (today it is 25-30%) with a focus on hydroelectric and wind power”.

If that is true for the next two to three years “the focus will be on retail”, the CEO also recalled that "we need an intelligent and very flexible thermoelectric park" and that Edison is currently engaged in the third cycle of review of gas procurement contracts. “Today Edison is a company with a strong brand, a great history in Italy, a very important asset portfolio and a healthy financial situation in a sector that is not doing well,” he concluded.
