Le European stock exchanges close higher in the first session of a week dominated bywaiting for monetary policy decisions which will arrive in the coming days. Meetings are scheduled for the Riksbank (Wednesday), the ECB and the Bank of England (Thursday), and the Bank of Japan (Friday). Traders are betting on a rate cut in London, a hike in Japan, and a status quo in Frankfurt and Oslo, but with more dovish guidance from Lagarde and colleagues. After a positive opening, Wall Street is instead turning lower, with investors awaiting US labor market data due tomorrow. Meanwhile, signs of weakness are coming from Beijing: retail sales grew by just 1,3% in November, the lowest since the Covid period, while industrial production slowed to 4,8%.

Milan is the most vibrant place (+1,4%), followed by London and Madrid, further behind Paris and especially Frankfurt. On the Ftse Mib thein light banks, with Banco Bpm, Pop Sondrio, Banca Mediolanum, Mps and Unicredit leading the rise in the FTSE Mib.
Bene BRUNELLO CUCINELLI, Buzzi. Juventus' title soars, +16% after Exor's firm rejection of Tether's acquisition offer. Campari and DiaSorin are in the queue, the latter penalized by Morgan Stanley's downgrade.
The BTP-Bund spread falls to 68 basis points, with the Italian 10-year yield stable at 3,52%. their at 4.325 dollars an ounce (-0,3%). The euro strengthens to 1,1763 against the dollar.
