BMW: US investigation into failed Mini crash tests

There is no peace for German cars. After the Volkswagen Dieselgate, BMW is now also under investigation in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating delays in fixing the problems of cars that failed crash tests. There are 30 Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S cars in the crosshairs.

According to Corriere della Sera, the facts date back to October 2014, when, during a crash test, the protections did not adequately protect one of the mannequins on board the car.

After an initial warning from the authorities, BMW allegedly undertook to start an information campaign, which however was never carried out. The problem would later resurface in July 2015, with more crash tests failing. Faced with the new unfulfilled promises, the authority has thus decided to launch an investigation.
