Peugeot collapse: loss of 819 million in the first half of 2012

Dramatic semester for Peugeot. “execrable” accounts, as Figaro himself mercilessly defined them, for the French car manufacturer, in serious crisis: 819 million euros of loss in the first six months of 2012, and a 1,5-billion-dollar cut plan that does not bode well for a balanced budget before 2014 and which will cost another 2015 jobs between now and 8.

Vertical collapse compared to a year ago, therefore, when the accounts still spoke of a net profit of 806 million euros. But most of all, red is four times higher than the same negative expectations of analysts, and it can be explained by the disaster in the automobile division, obviously the 'core' of the transalpine company: in the first half of 2012 the sale of vehicles recorded a -10,6%, with a loss of 662 million euros.

On the Paris Stock Exchange, the Peugeot stock is in spite of everything in the morning up 3,6% (11 pm).
