Once again this year, the online Christmas shopping fever has infected all Internet users in the world. According to data provided by Amazon, the main (but not the only) e-commerce platform, has done it even more than in previous years: the discounts in the week between 19 and 26 November, which included Black Friday and Cyber Monday convinced consumers to buy, especially on the last day, Cyber Monday, which according to Amazon was the biggest shopping day in the company's history.
The platform founded by Jeff Bezos, who became the richest man in the world thanks to it, does not provide an overall number, but indicates that, for example, Amazon customers all over the world they have ordered more than 18 million toys and more than 13 million fashion and apparel products, in the two crucial days, those of Friday 23 and Monday 26 November, with a large predominance of the second, as mentioned. For example, out of 18 million toys sold, only 4 million were purchased on Black Friday, the rest on Cyber Monday.
Among the most purchased products, those branded Amazon stand out: in first place is the Echo Dot, the smart speaker controlled by voice commands, but also Ring and Blink, home security tech products, have doubled sales since the same event in 2017. “Also bought millions of Fire tablets and Kindle devices,” Amazon adds in the note, however, not forgetting to specify that the big names have not monopolized purchases, but rather that "the sales of small and medium-sized enterprises that sell on Amazon grew by 20% worldwide during this Black Friday compared to last year".
