Naples was the venue for the second round of the award Women Value Company Intesa Sanpaolo. An award created to enhance female entrepreneurship and companies that invest in gender equality. An uphill road.
The numbers of female entrepreneurship
Let's start with the numbers. Italy is in last place among European countries in terms of female activity: 56,4%. with a net deviation of 13 points compared to the European average. A result "which is mainly affected by the delays of the Southern regions", we read in the research by the Research Department of Intesa Sanpaolo.
“If Italy aligned itself with the European average value of female activity – says the study – there would be an increase of 2,4 million in the workforce (+10%), with effects on GDP growth”.
The award Women Value Company
The second event of the Award was held in the Gallerie d'Italia in via Toledo, dedicated to companies from Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. The initiative is in its seventh edition and is recognized as a special category of Marisa Bellisario Award.
There were over 1200 nominations for the Award, with two final winners of the Mela d'Oro Women Value Company Intesa Sanpaolo award. Furthermore, companies were selected for special mentions for "Innovative Women", "Women for Abroad" and "Women for Social Affairs". Three categories that, when read in depth, reflect a specific state of the female condition. They would hardly have dedicated the same awards to a man.
In the name of Marisa Bellisario
Quality female work in the company is therefore a resource that has not yet emerged. They attended the award ceremony Lella Golfo, president of the Marisa Bellisario Foundation, Virginia Borla, Head of Business Governance Banca dei Territori Intesa Sanpaolo, e Anna Roscio, Intesa Sanpaolo Corporate Sales & Marketing manager, managers who know the internal panorama of our industries.
Marisa Belissario, Italian manager who passed away in 1988, represented the defeat of many prejudices. She was a southerner from Puglia, proud of it, of socialist and reformist ideas and she knew how to climb the ladder of large companies. She was an example for Italy of the so-called "capitalism in skirts", a hypocritical expression of those years, overthrown by the success of many Italians in all fields.
Is there room for women in the PNRR?
This year the award saw the largest participation since its debut, so meetings were organized with all the 100 winning companies. There were reflections of an economic and social nature consistent with the missions of the Pnrr.
Gender occasion? Why not, for one inclusive, sustainable and supportive corporate cultureAnd. Leadership and skills are coveted but possible goals. Any working woman aspires to it, legitimately. After all, they've been getting there for years now strong examples of winning women. Gender only matters if you are short-sighted.
Intesa Sanpaolo (and not only it) has opened up to this world. An award that strengthens the spirit and the will to achieve goals. The next Women Value Company meeting will take place in Milan on November 22nd and will be dedicated to 38 selected companies from Northern Italy. Another piece of Italy, but a little pinker than the Central South.
