The Board of Directors of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, in view of the assembly of Terna convened for May 27, resolved to indicate Catia Bastioli as president and Matthew Del Fante as CEO of the company that manages the national electricity grid. This is what we read in a note released this morning after the markets are closed.
The other names proposed for the board are Simona Camerano, Carlo Cerami, Fabio Corsico, Stefano Saglia. CDP is the relative majority shareholder of Terna, having in its pocket just under 30% of the share capital.
Del Fante, former director of Terna and general manager of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, has been in CDP since 2003 and has a past in JP Morgan, is close to Prime Minister Renzi but is esteemed by all for his working capacity. He will take the place of Flavio Cattaneo after three terms.
Bastioli is CEO of Novamont, an industrial company specializing in green chemistry and born in 1989 around some researchers from the Montedison School of Materials Science.
For the board of statutory auditors, the names proposed are those of Vincenzo Simone and Alessandra Zunino de Pignier as effective members and of Renata Ricotti and Cesare Mantegazza as alternate members.
With these appointments, the Renzi government gives a signal of renewal that has already manifested itself in Eni, Enel, Finmeccanica, Poste and Fs.
After the appointments, the market is now waiting to know the mission that the public shareholder imagines for the subsidiaries.
