S&P reviews ratings: cuts for Finmeccanica and Edison

Standard & Poor's downgrades Finmeccanica and Edison ratings. As for the state subsidiary, which recently opted for a change at the helm, to which Giuseppe Orsi was called, after the scandals that led to Guarguaglini's resignation, the rating was cut from BBB to BBB-, with a negative outlook.

What matters is the ongoing restructuring. The rating agency believes that the dividend freeze for 2012 is not sufficient to stem the worsening of the financial situation.

Even Edison ended up in the crosshairs of S&P. Its short-term credit rating has been cut from A-2 to A-3, the long-term one from BBB to BBB-. Also in this case the energy company remains under observation and the outlook is negative.

The interminable negotiations for the ownership reorganization, which saw the deadline for the agreement postponed four times, and the difficulties in the sector led to the negative opinion.
