Giorgio Armani arrives at the Teatro de' Servi in Rome.. The meeting comes just a few days after Milan Fashion Week, where the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2027 collection was presented, and offers the opportunity to revisit the designer's history through Filippini's account. The book was born from a phone call in 2014, when Armani, just after turning 80, asked the journalist: "Would you be willing to write my autobiography together?"
From that request a series of meetings During these meetings, Armani told Filippini about his life, his work, and the journey that had led him to become one of the protagonists of Italian fashion. At the end of that long conversation, however, the designer still didn't feel ready to fully expose himself on a personal level. Years later, those conversations took on a new meaning and became the starting point of the book.
What emerges is a story that combines the Armani's most personal history of fashion, between successes and fears, relationships, loneliness, regrets, and moments of disillusionment. A perspective that goes beyond clothing and work to also explore her relationship with her body, nature, cinema, and the people who have touched her life.
Among the memories there is also space for the fashion shows and the relationship with the models, to whom Armani, before going on the catwalk, said: "I'm sure we feel the same fear, but it's also nice to have it." A thought that gives back, in a few words, a part of the man behind the stylist and his way of looking at work and challenges.
