Alitalia strike, 60% of flights cancelled

Day of strike for Alitalia, forced to cancel 60% of the flights, between national and international, scheduled for today, due to the 24-hour unrest proclaimed by the unions. However, the airline has communicated that flights are operating regularly in the guarantee slots, from 7 to 10 and from 18 to 21, and above all that 92% of the passengers involved were rerouted to alternative flights, over half of which with connections departing on the same day.

"24-hour strike by all Alitalia personnel against an industrial plan of cuts only, against the request for about 2 redundancies and the cut in the salaries of flight personnel between 20 and 30%". Instead, this is what Filt CGIL recalls, with regard to the protest proclaimed jointly with Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti and Ugl Transport by plane, underlining that "the strike, when the confrontation resumes from 6 April which will take place continuously until 13 April, has the objective of changing the current position of the shareholders”.

According to the national secretary of Filt CGIL, Nino Cortorillo, “basing a plan on the bond of an agreement with the union, called to accept layoffs and pay cuts, lays the foundations for blackmail, not for negotiation. It is therefore necessary for Alitalia, and all the shareholders, to become realistic and do not ask the union and the workers for a consensus which, on the proposals contained in the plan, is impossible. From the first moment we confirmed that the Alitalia crisis is real but yet another solution to reduce activities, personnel and, probably, revenues themselves is not the solution”.
