Rio 2016: the third blue gold goes to Campriani

Niccolò Campriani, former Olympic champion in London 2012 (where he had also won a silver medal), repeated in Rio 2016: he is once again the gold medal in rifle shooting, in the specialty – air rifle from 10 meters – where in the previous edition of the Games he finished in second place. The Florentine champion had already distinguished himself in the qualifications, accessing the final with a score that earned him the new Olympic record.

Campriani therefore puts his third Olympic medal around his neck, which in this edition is the third gold for Italy: he was also the first Italian, in the history of shooting, to win an individual world title, in 2010 .

But the Italian medal table was further enriched with Giovanni Pellielo who conquered the silver in clay pigeon shooting.

Now Italy's total of medals at the Rio 2016 Olympics rises to nine.
