Businesses: bankruptcies on the decline, only 3 between April and June

In fact, between April and June 2017, according to official Unioncamere-Infocamere data, 3.008 companies went bankrupt, against 3.537 in the corresponding period of 2016. In percentage terms, the slowdown was 15% and confirms last year's result , when there was already a decrease of 3% compared to 2015. In relation to the Italian entrepreneurial structure, the phenomenon of the opening of bankruptcy proceedings therefore concerns a very limited number of companies.

The reduction in the flow of new bankruptcies was more substantial in percentage terms in the North East (-16,8% compared to the second quarter of 2016) and in the South and Islands (-16,5%). In the North-West regions, bankruptcy proceedings were 14,7% less than last year and -12,2% in the Centre.

At the sectoral level, the decline in bankruptcy proceedings particularly affects construction
(-24,8% compared to the second quarter of 2016), transport and warehousing (-21,1%), manufacturing activities (-16,9%) and wholesale and retail trade (-12,9% ).
