La Generali Foundation The Human Safety Net Onlus, the global initiative in favor of communities created by the Generali Group, launches its activities in Italy by presenting together with the Center for Child Health, now in Trieste, "A Village to Grow", a space dedicated to families to promote equal opportunities of development for boys and girls aged between 0 and 6 years.
In the first three years of life, the neurobiological foundations of the child's cognitive, emotional and social skills are built. The educational proposal of the Village will support the development of children and the parenting skills of adults, based on rigorous scientific evidence that demonstrates how much the quality time offered by parents to their children translates into better development and more well-being, with favorable effects for the whole course of life.
The spaces in the Village are made available by the Integrated University Health Authority of Trieste to integrate the services already existing in the Valmaura district, a neighborhood where there are many families with children and where there is a strong need to offer adequate educational opportunities.
In the space of the Village parents and children will be able to spend time together and share positive experiences of reading, music, play and artistic expression. The activities will be conducted by specially trained educators and volunteers, in the presence of children and parents. The project is inspired by the proverb "It takes a village to raise a child". The goal is also to involve the communities in which the Village is present, to spread and reinforce the message that the education of the new generations is a shared responsibility that must be supported and guaranteed.

The President of Generali, Gabriele Galateri di Genola, stated: “The Human Safety Net is Generali's initiative in favor of communities, a movement of people who help people. In Trieste we are presenting a project dedicated to supporting families to support positive relationships and experiences with their children: it is important to act on prevention, doing it directly in the communities they belong to, and early, to offer children equal opportunities for development".
Il President of the Center for Child Health, Giorgio Tamburlini, he underlined: "Families and local communities cannot make a better investment than in the minds and hearts of their children, because not only their future depends on this, and on the relationship that children have had with their parents from an early age, but also that of the communities to which they belong. The bet of the spaces of our Villages is to make a contribution to this”.
On a national level, "A Village to Grow" is promoted and directed by the non-profit Child Health Center as part of the projects financed by the Fund for the fight against child educational poverty in coordination with the social enterprise Con i Bambini. The other Villages will open their doors in Cervinara (BN), Cosenza, Genoa (Val Polcevera), Foligno, Naples (Pianura), Policoro (Matera), San Cipriano d'Aversa (Caserta), Syracuse and Turin (Barriera Milano).
