European Championships: Conte's Italy knocks out Belgium (2-0)

We don't have star players but we are a real team, as Conte wanted it: the key to Italy's victorious debut in the 2016 European Championships is all here. Above all there is the coach's hand in the success of our national team in the opening match.

It is no coincidence that Italy scored their first goal in the first half with one of Conte's squires, who had most turned their noses up at the critics, but it was simply perfect both in the coverage and construction phases. The goal was half a masterpiece: a perfect stop on the fly after a splendid throw by Bonucci and an elusive jab by Giaccarini that not even a great goalkeeper like Courtois managed to block.

Belgium, which was considered the revelation of the tournament, tried in every way to get back on track but the Italian defense, centered on the Juve block, was impeccable. And in the end, after defending themselves with their teeth, Italy secured the victory with a goal from Pellè almost at the end.

Invaluable victory for Italy which now finds itself first in the standings in the group thanks to a draw between Sweden and Ireland (1 to 1). And that's just the beginning.
