Circular economy, Acea's projects make the Esrin center in Frascati an island of sustainability

A small island of sustainability equipped with latest generation technologies. This is the objective of the innovative projects created by the Acea Group, in collaboration with the Europe Space Agency, in the center of Frascati. The Roman multi-utility has implemented two projects within the structure capable of reducing the environmental impact of the headquarters and its staff, through the electric mobility and the treatment of Organic wastefrom a circular economy perspective. In the coming months, we will see the implementation of green mobility systems accompanied by a technological platform that supports their operations and services for monitoring management and environmental KPIs, providing continuous analysis functions. An initiative aimed at reusing water resources is also currently being studied.

Acea projects: charging stations and treatment of organic waste

As regards sustainable mobility, Acea Innovation - CPO (Charge Point Operator) of the Roman Group - has installed 8 recharging points for electric vehicles, powered 100% by green energy, which can be used via cards dedicated to employees and collaborators of Esa and managed through its own ICT technological platform, called BOMTS. The system is integrated by an innovative digital portal, which makes it possible to receive, verify and manage 24/XNUMX all the data relating to the charging infrastructures, and to the use by authorized users, providing a series of KPIs processed in real time.  

Acea Innovation will also provide its own Global Service for the real-time management, also through the control room active 24 hours a day, of the SmartComp, the intelligent composter installed at the service of the center's canteen (with a capacity of 24 tons/year, equal to a maximum of 35 tons of CO70 not emitted into the atmosphere). This composting plant equipped with artificial intelligence is able to treat the organic fraction directly in the place where it is produced, transforming it into high quality compost, to be used for fertilizing the green areas of the site, thus eliminating the environmental impact due to and transport of wet waste by wheel.

Finally, it is already being studied for “Engineering and Services” – area of ​​the multi-utility that deals with the design, construction and management of networks and systems – a project for the reuse of wastewater, already treated on site, and rainwater for the irrigation of green spaces.
