Bank of Italy: loans to businesses -0,8% in August, to households +0,3%

The annual growth rate of private sector deposits was 2,8% – bad debts down slightly.

Bank of Italy: loans to businesses -0,8% in August, to households +0,3%

In August credit to the private sector it decreased by 0,5% on year, after -0,6% in July. Loans to households grew by 0,3% over twelve months, as in the previous month, while those to non-financial companies fell by 0,8% (-1,1% in July). Bankitalia states it in its latest monthly bulletin.

Last week, however, a report by the ABI showed that in the first eight months of 2015, business loans increased by 15,9%, while consumer credit grew by 27,2%.

Returning to the Via Nazionale report, also in August the annual growth rate of the deposits of the private sector was equal to 2,8%. Bond funding, including bonds held by the banking system, decreased by 17,6% on an annual basis (-17,9% in the previous month). 

As for sufferings banks, the figure was 14,2% (against 14,5% in July). 

It flies, i interest rates on loans disbursed in the month to households for the purchase of homes, including ancillary costs, were equal to 3,04% (3,02% in the previous month), while those on new consumer credit disbursements amounted to 8,24 % (8,13% in the previous month). 

The interest rates on new loans to non-financial companies of up to 1 million euro were 2,99% (2,93% in the previous month); those on new loans exceeding this threshold to 1,35% (1,56% in July). Interest rates "on the total of existing deposits were equal to 0,56%, as in the previous month", concludes Bankitalia.
