Terna launches Tyrrhenian Lab and invest overall 100 million euro over the next five years on developing specialized skills to address the energy transition, facilitating the process and speeding up its progress.
The Tyrrhenian Lab project aims to establish, in collaboration with the Universities of Cagliari, Salerno and Palermo, a training center of excellence distributed in the offices of the three respective cities where the cables of the Tyrrhenian Link, Terna's submarine power line, will land which will unite Campania, Sicily and Sardinia, for a total of 950 km of connection and 3,7 billion euros of investments, promoting the integration of energy flows from renewable sources.

In detail, thanks to the Tyrrhenian Lab, between autumn 2022 and 2025 Terna expects the training of more than 150 highly professional figures who will be provided with a 12-month university master's degree focused on the development of functional technological and strategic skills to the country's digital transformation and energy transition.
The training course will be characterized by a strong mix of classroom study, where lessons will also be held by Terna managers and technicians, and experience in the field, thanks to the opportunity to undertake an internship in the company that manages the transmission grid national.
With the launch of the first masters, Terna will make available three ad hoc offices in Cagliari, Salerno and Palermo, organized in innovative ways and equipped with highly technological instruments. At full capacity, at least 200 people will work in the Tyrrhenian Lab offices with an additional 1.000 professionals involved.
Once students have completed the 12-month master's degree, they will then be able to be hired in Terna's local offices in the three cities.
