Matteo Renzi takes the field again and he does so through a blog inaugurated by a post entitled "the future will come back sooner or later" in which the former Premier explains to readers the reason why he has decided to embark on this new adventure, "not meant for veterans" but to "walk towards the future". It will be a place to discuss the European Union, but also the fate of the centre-left.
The secretary of the Democratic Party returns to talk about the defeat accrued in the context of the constitutional referendumand of December 4 which – he admits – “hurt us. With the reforms, we wanted a simpler and stronger country: it went badly. I wanted to cut hundreds of armchairs and in the end the only one that fell was mine. But even that defeat belongs to the past."
However, the democratic leader decided to put a stone on the past and move forward: “There are many ways to start. And to start over. Anyone who grew up with scout experience knows that the best way is to get on the road. At his side there will be: “millions of Italians who have a clear and beautiful idea of Italy's future. With all the difficulties that nobody wants to deny. But always with a clear and beautiful idea of Italy's future. Because these millions of Italians do not surrender to resignation. I want to walk with them."
However, this does not mean that what has been will be forgotten: "Let's be clear, we are ready for any check on the past. We are the ones who have a thousand days of work to offer the Government, which have brought so many results. With some mistakes, of course, but in the vast majority we have made progress for us and for the country".
After listing the results obtained by his executive, Renzi invites everyone to dialogue, without insults or profiteering, anticipating his intention to carry out a tour of the country: “I'll wait for you around Italy. But I'll wait for you here too, with your comments, contributions, ideas”, concludes the former prime minister.
Finally, Renzi announced via text message that, within a few hours, the new secretariat of the PD will be announced. The secretary anticipates the reorganization of the party, thanking the outgoing secretariat, but does not reveal more about the new team of the Nazarene: some of the members should be confirmed, others not. "We will continue to fight together."
