“Today the overall volume of so-called ‘machine thinking’ is less than 3% of all human thinking,” he said. Eddie Wu, CEO of Alibaba Group, hypothesizing that in the future “machine thinking” could grow to be a thousand times greater than human capacity.
“With this goal in mind, we aim to ensure that, by 2032, the global capacity of data centers operated by Alibaba Cloud exceed 20 gigawatts, fueling the exponentially growing industry demand for AI,” Wu added, speaking at the company’s annual conference in Hangzhou, its headquarters.
The manager then made it known that Alibaba intends to train a particularly powerful AI model with between five and ten trillion parameters, which would make it several times larger than the largest model currently in use in China.
