Poste Italiane: loan of 400 million from the EIB

Poste Italiane has obtained a loan of 400 million euros from the European Investment Bank. The objective of the operation is to facilitate the multi-year strategic plan of the group called "Deliver 2022".

In particular, the resources will be used to carry out 80 projects in various sectors. For example, energy-efficient photovoltaic panels will be installed in 661 postal buildings to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition, various logistical operations in parcel sorting will be automated to reach 900 parcels per day in 2022, against 500 in 2018. Investments in digital technology are also planned to simplify the customer experience.

"With this agreement we confirm our great attention to digital, technological innovation and the environment - comments Matteo Del Fante, CEO and general manager of Poste Italiane - We continue to implement our Deliver 2022 strategic plan by increasing security and improving the working conditions in the company, raising environmental standards and giving new impetus to the automation of logistics centres”.

Dario Scannapieco, vice president of the EIB, underlines the importance of "modernizing the offices" of Poste "on the basis of the most up-to-date energy efficiency criteria: as an EU bank we have been for years and will be increasingly attentive in the future to projects to combat the climate change".
