Markets in the storm: Brexit brings down the pound and the stock exchanges

As expected, the exit of Great Britain from Europe with the victory of Brexit in the British referendum is throwing the financial markets into panic, which instead bet on the opposite result.

The pound quickly plunged to a historic 35-year low against the dollar. London Stock Exchange futures signal an 8% decline. Very bad also in Asia. The Nikkei, the main Japanese stock index, by 7,8%.

A dramatic day is announced for all the stock exchanges in the world, including Piazza Affari.

Emergency meeting underway at the Bank of England. ECB ready to intervene.
