Leonardo at Heli-Expo with three helicopters, primacy in the civil sector

Leonardo confirms its leadership in the construction of civil helicopters in 2018. The defense group participates in the Heli-Expo helicopter show which will be held in Atylanta in the USA until 7 March. The company arrives at the key event for the sector with a 40% market share, thus confirming itself as the first manufacturer in the world by value. Overall helicopter deliveries also increased last year compared to 149 units in 2017.

“The North American helicopter fleet – informs a press release from Leonardo, released for the occasion – has more than doubled in the last ten years, going from over 200 to over 450 units. The factory
Leonardo of Philadelphia has contributed significantly over the years with the delivery of over 550 helicopters
to customers in the US and around the world, and services more than a thousand machines across North and
South America"

The importance of the United States is growing for the company which has built a new pilot training center in Philadelphia while other technical assistance centers are being opened at a regional level.
The attention to the USA can be explained by the interest in seizing the opportunities offered by orders in the military field after the selection of the MH-139 helicopter and in view of the new tenders called by the US Navy.

At Heli-Expo Leonardo presents a series of machines and services including an AW119 in
offshore configuration, an AW109 Trekker for helicopter rescue and an AW169 with VIP layout.
