Intesa: Messina confirms 3 billion dividends in 2016. Gros-Pietro is chairman

“I confirm the commitment to pay 3 billion in dividends in 2016”. The managing director of Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Messina, said this on Wednesday during the Bank's meeting in Turin. Messina also reiterated his commitment on the coupon for 2017. "I absolutely confirm the business plan - he explained, answering questions from the shareholders - Also the target of 4 billion in dividends by 2017".

Messina then thanked "professor Giovanni Bazoli on behalf of all the people of the institute", as the president of the supervisory board ends his mandate today after a long career at the top of Intesa, of which he will remain president emeritus. "I will do everything - added Messina - so that this bank can be even better" in the coming years.

“My wish for the future – said Bazoli instead – is that the bank can strengthen its presence in Europe. Let me be clear: I don't envisage operations in the short term, there is no rush and there are no threats in sight, but looking carefully at the European market must be the perspective; which is moreover prepared by the evolution and by the work carried out up to now and by the reputation acquired in Europe”.

In the middle of the day, the Intesa Sanpaolo stock dropped 0,81% to 2,448 euros.

In the afternoon, the assembly elected the new board of Intesa Sanpaolo, the first elected of the new course that returns to the one-tier governance system and abandons the dual. Gian Maria Gros-Pietro was elected president with 98,1% of the votes in favor and Paolo Andrea Colombo vice president with a substantially similar consensus. A total of 5 directors go to the minority list presented by the funds, two of which will be part of the control committee. The chairman of the control committee, Marco Mangiagalli, was also drawn from the minority list.
