Gazprom is increasingly interested in Greece. The Greek government would be inclined to sell the Depa gas company to the Russian group, a crucial piece of the privatization program that Athens must carry out if it wants to respect the agreements for the EU-IMF bailout loan.
After months of negotiations and frequent Greek trips of the top management of the Russian gas giant, the executive led by Antonis Samaras reportedly agreed in principle on the conditions for assigning Depa to Gazprom. The Desfa subsidiary - which handles distribution - would go to the Azeri company Socar.
