Banks in crisis: repayments reopen

The deadline is now at the end of May - The rules have changed in light of the "savings-saving" decree, which also allowed access to those who had received the subordinated bonds "inter vivos" and excluded the consideration paid for the bonds from the calculation of movable assets.

Banks in crisis: repayments reopen

The savers of the four banks that ended up in resolution in December 2015 (Banca Etruria, Banca Marche, Carife and Carichieti) will have until the end of May to submit an application for relief. This was established by the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund, modifying the rules in the light of the "savings-saving" decree, which also allowed access to those who had received the subordinated bonds «inter vivos» (spouse, cohabitant more uxorio and relatives within the second degree), while it excluded the consideration paid for the bonds from the calculation of the movable assets, which has a ceiling of 100 thousand euros.

Those who have already had their request refused but now fall within the new parameters - the Fund informs - will be able to send a new refreshment request in which they will have to indicate the code of the old practice.

As for savers who submitted their application late with respect to the first deadline of 3 January, they will be able to renew it. For the documentation on the bonds, the Fund points out that substitute declarations of the original documents drawn up by the four institutes are accepted.

Meanwhile, the lump sum repayments disbursed (equal to 80% of the invested capital) exceeded 86 million euros. About half of the 15 applications for reimbursement submitted have so far been examined. More than two thirds of the compensation awarded (4.482 out of 6.965) concern reimbursement requests for investments under 10 thousand euros.
