Axa, 2012 profit lower than expected: -1%

The French insurance group Axa announced that it closed 2012 with a net profit of 4,152 billion euros, a decrease of 1% compared to 2011 which had benefited from extraordinary items for 1,4 billion linked to the sale of assets. The figure is lower than the estimates of analysts, who aimed for a profit of around 4,6 billion euros.

Net of extraordinary items, the 2012 net profit would have increased by 44%. The operating result, more indicative of the recurring activity of the group, recorded a rise of 13% to 4,25 billion. Net revenues grew by 5% to 90,1 billion.
