Anas enters the FS group with a capital increase of 2,86 billion euros through the transfer of the entire Anas stake held by the Ministry of Economy and Finance approved by the Shareholders' Meeting of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. The FS Italiane Group, with the entrance of Anas alongside Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, a note reads, "it will become the first integrated hub of railways and roads in Europe in terms of inhabitants served and investments, 108 billion euro over the next ten years".
In the FS Italiane Group, "Anas joins RFI as well as Italferr, the subsidiary operating nationally and internationally in design and engineering, and other companies, including Trenitalia, Mercitalia and Busitalia, transport companies (passengers and goods) on rail and road”.
In its new configuration, the FS Italiane Group has a railway and road infrastructure network of approximately 44 kilometres. The 2,3 billion vehicles that travel 64,5 billion km annually on the roads and motorways managed by Anas thus add up to the traffic managed by the Group: approximately 750 million passengers a year on rail (of which 150 abroad), 290 million by road (130 abroad) and 50 million tons of goods.
The FS Italiane Group, with the contribution of Anas and 81 thousand employees, continues the note, "is able to develop a turnover of 2018 billion euros in 11,2 and an investment capacity of 8 billion, with an invested capital of around 50 billion".
“The contribution of Anas to FS Italiane – commented the CEO of FS Renato Mazzoncini – is a very important operation for the country. This is a fundamental stage in the implementation of the industrial plan of the Group which sees FS as the main promoter of integrated mobility on rail and road for the benefit of all Italians. It is further confirmation that the role of FS is changing: no longer a national railway company but a European mobility company”.
The Assembly also appointed the members of the new Board of Directors of FS Italiane. Gioia Ghezzi, chairman, Renato Mazzoncini CEO and the directors Simonetta Giordani, Federico Lovadina, Wanda Ternau remain in continuity. Francesca Moraci and Giovanni Azzone enter the board of directors of Anas.
