For Alitalia the first half of 2012 ends with net result in the red for 201 million euros, 107 million euros less than in the same period of 2011, and a negative operating result for 169 million.
The company communicates this in a note, explaining that Ebit and the net result are affected "by the marked worsening of the macroeconomic situation, by the increase in the cost of fuel and by the strengthening of the dollar against the euro".
The net financial debt as of 30 June was equal to 862 million, an increase of 8 million compared to 31 December 2011; revenues stood at 1.686 million (+4,1%) and the load factor at 71,1% (+3,4 percentage points).
In the second half of the year the company "should achieve a significantly better operating result than the first".
According to CEO Andrea Ragnetti, "the worst is over, we are aiming for a trend reversal in the second half" which "I expect will project us towards a 2013 which should be the year of the return to operating profit after more 20 years old".
