From power plants to the territories that host them: Enel opens the doors of its plants to tell citizens how therenewable energy and the role of infrastructure in energy transition. This is the goal of Territory Project, the path promoted by the Group led by Flavio Cattaneo to strengthen relationships with local communities, associations, and organizations that bring the region to life.
Power plants become places open to citizens
The special openings of the facilities represent one of the project's key events. Upcoming initiatives include a visit to the Nov hydroelectric power plantand, in Veneto, scheduled for July 25th on the occasion of the Dolomiti Arena – Slow Mountain Music Festival, and the one at Galleto power plant, in Umbria, scheduled for July 28th as part of the Piediluco Water Festival.
The two initiatives illustrate the project's dual purpose: on the one hand, supporting events, associations, and demonstrations that enhance the local cultural, social, and natural heritage; on the other, opening up the power plants to citizens, demonstrating where and how the electricity that powers homes, businesses, and services is produced.
Free visits to discover how energy is created
During the visits, free and available on booking through the dedicated website(https://www.eneleventi.it/registrazione) or through the QR Code Present in the information materials, participants can learn about how the plants work, the role of renewable sources in the energy transition process, and the historical, technological, and environmental value of the infrastructure.
On many occasions, the program is enriched with moments dedicated to promoting local traditions, food and wine excellences, and local associations, transforming the power plants into places of meeting and participation.
From Open Power Plants to the Territory Project
For Enel this is a consolidated experience, which began with Open Power Plants, the program launched in 2002 to invite citizens, families and schools to discover first-hand how electricity is produced from renewable sources.
Over the years, the initiative has become a tool for dialogue with local communities, helping to strengthen the relationship between the Group and the communities in which it operates. This process continues today with the Territorio Project, expanding the involvement of local communities.
After the summer, the project will involve 80 Italian municipalities
Il calendar the initiatives will also continue after summer: starting in September, the Territory Project will involve a total of 80 Italian municipalities.
Among the first events scheduled are the Poggio Cancelli Dam in Campotosto (3 September), the Santa Barbara Central in Cavriglia (6 September), the Venaus Power Plant (September 12), the Crot Power Plant in Usseglio (13 September), the Malegno Power Plant (September 19) and the Sondrio Power Plant (September 27).
Several events will feature guided tours alongside activities for families and children, energy-themed entertainment initiatives, opportunities to showcase local specialties, and food and wine events.
With the Territorio Project, the Group led by Flavio Cattaneo aims to bring the world of energy production closer to citizens, opening up plants and creating opportunities for discussion on the issues of sustainability and the transformation of the energy system.
