After the demonstration on Saturday in Roma, the leader of the Five stars, Giuseppe Conte he did not hide his satisfaction (“We are one hundred thousand” and never mind if for the Police Headquarters they were 18 thousand) but, beyond the quantity of participants, it is the quality of the contents and the slogans of the procession that count. Which are essentially three: 1) theEurope is a “stepmother” and not only because of her rearmament plan; 2) of Trump (the friend of “Giuseppi”) is not worth talking about and what do you want it to matter if it is bringing the American liberal democratic system, the economy and the stock exchanges of the whole world and globalization to their knees? 3) in the war in Ukraine better the aggressor Putin that the attacked Zelensky (“the Russian people are not my enemy”). So what do the messages from Conte and his demonstration on Saturday tell us? That his pacifism it is a one-way pacifism, much more friendly to Putin's Russia and Trump's America than to Europe or, if you prefer, a pacifism in the Northern League style that certainly does not displease Matteo Salvini and maybe even to the general Roberto Vannacci. It can be the pillar of the alternative to Meloni government? Some doubts are legitimate.
Conte and the Five Stars, but what kind of pacifism is this that speaks of Europe as a stepmother, that ignores Trump and that feels closer to Putin than to Zelensky?
It's easy to talk about pacifism but Conte's pacifism considers Europe a stepmother, pretends to forget Trump's damage and in Ukraine he is closer to Putin than to Zelensky. On closer inspection, he is not very far from the positions of Salvini's League
