Singapore is the most expensive city in the world

The most expensive city in the world is Singapore. This is certified by the relative annual ranking compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit for 2014. The Asian city-state has ousted Tokyo from the top, which has slipped to sixth place mainly due to the greater weakness of the yen. In the calculation, the very high costs for transport and energy, as well as for shopping, weigh above all.

Behind Singapore, two European cities complete the podium: Paris and Oslo, followed by another city of the old continent, namely Zurich. In fifth place Sydney. They are followed, on equal terms, by Tokyo, Geneva, Melbourne and, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, Caracas, in Venezuela. Closes the top ten Copenhagen.

India dominates the ranking of the least expensive cities in the world. In fact, Mumbai is in first place, followed by Karachi (Pakistan) and New Delhi. Damascus, Kathmandu, Algiers, Bucharest, Panama City, Jeddah and Riyadh complete the top ten.
