Terna and Carabinieri have signed a collaboration agreement to protect the security of the national electricity grid. Based on the agreement, the company that manages the transmission network will supply another 675 devices to the Arma departments involved in the monitoring of strategic electricity infrastructures for the country. The objective is "to prevent, manage and counter alarm events relating to the critical infrastructures of the national electricity grid operator, thus improving the ability to promptly intervene", writes Terna in a note.

Actions to protect the national electricity system are of various types: ranging from the "geolocation of Terna's stations with the activities of the devices in the field" to "real-time communication between Terna and the Carabinieri units", passing through "the transmission of images between the parties aimed at , live, of the monitored sites”.

The memorandum of understanding, "constitutes an important evolution of the Odin system (Operational Device for Information, Networking and Observation) created in 2015 by Terna in collaboration with the Arma dei Carabinieri", continues the note.

The agreement was signed on Thursday 7 January in the presence of the general commander of the Carabinieri, General Giovanni Nistri, and Terna's managing director, Stefano Donnarumma.
