Saipem, in consortium with Petrofac and Samsung, has been awarded a new contract in Onshore E&C (design and construction of production plants (extraction, separation, stabilization, collection, water injection) and treatment plants (removal and recovery of dioxide, carbon dioxide removal, gaseous liquid fractionation, condensate recovery) of hydrocarbons and large onshore processing and transport systems) for the expansion of the Sriacha refinery in Thailand, the largest in the Asian country.
The total value of the contract, awarded by the state subsidiary ThaiOil, is approximately 4 billion dollars, of which 1,4 billion for Saipem's share. In detail, the works include engineering, the purchase of materials, the construction and start-up of new production units and the modernization of some of the existing ones.
The order is part of the Clean Fuel Project with which ThaiOil intends to produce higher quality fuels and increase the refinery's capacity from 275 to 400 thousand barrels. “The award of this contract, in addition to consolidating Saipem's presence in an area with great development prospects such as Southeast Asia and Thailand in particular, demonstrates the company's ability to promote strategic partnerships and confirms it as a key player in the sector of clean fuel technologies and high-tech projects” commented Maurizio Coratella, COO of the Onshore E&C division.
